The Kremlin regime announces that it will finance Cuba and help it overcome the severe economic problems it faces after the US stopped the flow of Venezuelan oil to the Cuban regime. Sergey Lavrov, Putin’s chief diplomat, announced that Russia is ready to help Cuba directly with money, during a phone discussion with the Cuban foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parilla, reports The Moscow Times.

The discussions focused on “priority issues of bilateral cooperation and the international agenda”. Lavrov stated that Russia insists that US actions against Cuba, including the blockade of the island’s oil supply, are “unacceptable”, threatening to cause “a serious deterioration of the economic and humanitarian situation in the country”.

“A firm commitment was expressed to continue to provide Cuba with the necessary political and material support,” Putin’s diplomacy conveyed in a statement.

In 2014, dictator Vladimir Putin wiped out Cuba’s debt of over 32 billion dollars. Russia’s total budget expenditures that year were about 414.5 billion dollars.

In total, Cuba’s debt, accumulated during the Soviet period, amounted to about 35.2 billion dollars at that time. Putin wiped out 90% of Cuba’s debt, which included obligations related to government and commercial loans, as well as balances blocked in deposit and clearing accounts in various currencies.
