President Vladimir Putin stated that employers need to play “a crucial role in the demographic agenda” and encourage their staff to “build large families”. The statement was made during a meeting of the Supervisory Council of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI).

In this context, Putin reminded that the number of children under six years old of the employees will be included in the new “Standard of the social capital of businesses”, recently approved by the government.

According to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the document is intended to assess the “real impact of companies on social welfare”. The indicators provided in the standard will be taken into account when the state decides to provide financial support. “This will allow the state to identify companies that contribute to long-term national priorities and build sustainable partnerships with them”, said the general director of ASI, Svetlana Chupsheva.

The document includes 95 indicators through which the social responsibility of companies will be evaluated. Among them are the average number of children per employee, the proportion of employees with large families, the number of married employees, as well as the expenses for family and birth support programs. Investments in projects dedicated to promoting “traditional Russian spiritual, moral and cultural-historical values” are evaluated separately. The list also includes the number of war veteran employees, as well as expenses for volunteer activities.
