Iran has adopted from Russia the tactic of massive drone attacks, tested in the war in Ukraine, and applied it against the states of the Persian Gulf, writes The Wall Street Journal.
According to the publication, Tehran has launched hundreds of drones over the countries in the region, with the aim of overloading their anti-aircraft defense systems, reaching American military bases, and causing damage to critical infrastructure.
This is a strategy of attrition. Attack drones, relatively small, cheaper, and difficult to intercept, do not have the same devastating effect as missiles, but they can successfully hit civilian airports, ports, and other essential targets, undermining the sense of security of the population and investors, notes the American publication.
