Maia Sandu declares that she does not want to run for the Presidency of Romania. The head of state affirms that there is a good leader at Cotroceni, and as far as she is concerned, the President of the Republic of Moldova pointed out that “she can contribute to the development of this country (ed: Republic of Moldova) from other positions as well.”
The official emphasized that she does not aspire to a new term and respects the Constitution, reports Realitatea. At the same time, Maia Sandu believes that “it is very good that the term for the president is limited.”
“Why should I run in Romania? Romania has a president, a good president. We still have many things here and I can contribute to the development of this country from other positions or jobs. (…) It is very good that the term for the president is limited in the Constitution and I hope we remain a democracy”, said Maia Sandu during the show “Cabinetul din Umbră”.
According to the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, no person can hold the position of President of the Republic of Moldova for more than two consecutive terms.
