Iran could be just a few days away from running out of operational missile launchers, amid escalating conflict with Israel and the United States, according to military experts, reports The Sun. However, analysts warn that Tehran still holds a potential “wild card” that could extend the war in the Middle East.
Matthew Savill, the director of the military science department at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), believes that Iran’s missile capabilities have been seriously affected after ten days of US-Israeli bombings in the operation “Epic Fury”, targeting Iranian military infrastructure.
He said that Israeli and American forces are intensely focusing on the destruction of Iran’s ballistic missile launchers, considered a critical point in Tehran’s attack capability.
He explained that the current operation targets both the remaining ballistic missiles and their launchers, which represent the key element of the entire system. According to Israeli estimates, Iran would have about 150 functional launchers left.
Savill added that, if the current rate of losses continues, Iran could lose by the end of the week the ability to launch ballistic missiles from mobile platforms, which would significantly reduce its striking power.
