Moscow threatens that the war could reach a “fundamental new level of destruction and loss of human lives” following a missile attack launched by Ukraine on a major microelectronics factory linked to the Russian military in the Bryansk region, reports Kyiv Independent.

The statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry comes as Ukrainian forces have hit the Kremniy EL factory using long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles. The facility is one of the largest producers of microelectronics in Russia and is considered a major supplier of semiconductors used in missile guidance and control systems.

Moscow claims that seven civilians were killed and another 42 people were injured in the attack. These figures could not be independently verified.

    Strategic Military Target

Ukrainian officials have stated that the attack was directly aimed at the factory, not civilian areas. The Kremniy EL complex is considered a key supplier of microchips and electronic components used in various Russian weapon systems, including cruise missiles frequently used in attacks on cities and infrastructure in Ukraine.

The attack appears to be part of a broader strategy by Kiev to hit Russia’s military industrial infrastructure responsible for the production of weapons used against Ukraine.
