The President of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin, stated that Russians should appreciate the political system formed during the rule of Vladimir Putin, as it would ensure the country’s stability amidst global crises.

“Look at the world: tensions, turbulence, explosions, while we have stability. This is exactly what should be valued,” Volodin said, quoted by TASS.

He added that the main task of the authorities is to use this “stability” to ensure the further development of the country.

However, a report published by the European Parliament, titled “Russia under Vladimir Putin: 26 years of governance in numbers and facts”, presents a different picture.

According to the document, during Putin’s rule, Russia was involved for 21 years in open or indirect military conflicts. Among these are the Second Chechen War, the 2008 Russo-Georgian War, the Annexation of Crimea, the war in eastern Ukraine from 2014–2022, the military intervention in Syria, the expansion of operations in Africa, and finally, the 2022 Russian Invasion of Ukraine.
