The elected officials from Gagauzia want to complain to Erdogan about the authorities in Chisinau. The proposal was put forward at the extraordinary meeting of the Popular Assembly, held on March 17 in Comrat.
The initiative came from the former governor of the region, Mihail Formuzal. According to the local publication Nokta, the ex-official also said that the authorities in the autonomy can organize elections “100 times”, until the vote is recognized by the constitutional authorities.
The initiative to form a working group, which will go to inform the Turkish authorities about the political situation in Comrat, was also supported by Ivan Burgudji.
Several former and current officials attended the extraordinary meeting in Comrat. Among them are the communist deputy Diana Caraman, the socialist leader Igor Dodon, the PSRM deputy Vlad Bătrîncea, and the former governor Irina Vlah. They argued that the autonomy of the region would be in danger, in the context of tensions regarding the organization of elections.
