The Isaccea-Vulcănești power line was disconnected on the evening of March 23, after 19:15. Bombings on critical infrastructure in Ukraine could be the cause of the incident.

Data from Moldelectrica shows that, after the disconnection, electricity imports from Romania dropped to zero, reports IPN. The Ministry of Energy confirmed the incident and stated that work is underway to identify the fault and restore operation.

“Work is underway to identify the fault and restore operation. We will return with details when we have exact information. At present, the intervention teams have not yet reached the site,” the institution’s representatives communicated.

Officials from the National Crisis Management Center announced that as a result of the bombings on critical infrastructure in Ukraine, there is a risk that the Isaccea-Vulcănești line may have been affected.

Authorities in Moldova are monitoring the situation in real time. It is not yet clear if there are power outages in the Republic of Moldova.

According to Moldelectrica, the power supply of the Republic of Moldova is maintained. The four interconnection lines with Romania, 110 kV, are being used, thus ensuring the stability of the national power system.
