More Moldovans get information about elections from social media than from the press, according to a sociological study presented by PromoLEX. Citizens prefer to get electoral information from Facebook, TikTok, and Youtube.

The results show that social networks are one of the main sources of information: 37% of respondents use them often, and 18% – very often, reports realitatea.md. At the same time, 25% do not use them at all, and about 20% – rarely.

Although they claim to get their information from social media, respondents stated that, most of the time, they do not comment on the content and do not share it on their own accounts.

The research was conducted in the period from February 22 to March 12, 2026, on a sample of 1226 respondents aged 18 and over. The study was carried out in 95 urban and rural localities in the Republic of Moldova (excluding the Transnistrian region and the diaspora). The data was collected through face-to-face interviews. The margin of error is ±2.8%.
