The airspace of Moldova has been violated twice in less than 24 hours. Two Shahed drones flew over the country, one of them heading towards Cobasna, where the ammunition depot of the Russian troops, illegally stationed on the left bank of the Dniester, is located.
The Ministry of Defense in Chisinau announced that it detected the first flight on March 30, at 21:29. The drone crossed the Comarivka locality in the Odessa region, Ukraine, moved towards the Șipca locality in the Republic of Moldova, flew over the Dubăsari district and disappeared from radars at 22:03, near the village of Clișova in the Orhei district.
Following the incident, the airspace north of Moldova was closed for 15 minutes. According to official reports, the drone was flying at an altitude of about 1700 meters and had a speed of 180 km/h.
The second drone flew over the country on March 31, being detected at 9:05 AM. The flying device was observed from Podolsk, Ukraine, heading towards Cobasna. At 9:13 AM, Shahedul left the national territory, crossing the state border from the direction of Malîi Molochis, Rîbnița district, towards Șerșențî, Odesa region. The flying device was traveling at a height of up to 500 meters, according to the National Army.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova has condemned the overflight of the country’s airspace by Russian drones, stating that the incidents represent “a serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and is unacceptable”.
