Russians are buying more and more homes in Minsk, due to increasingly strict restrictions on internet and communications in Russia. In March 2026, Russian citizens purchased 126 apartments in the capital of Belarus, which is about one in ten apartments sold that month, according to authorities in Minsk, writes The Moscow Times.

In total, 1,284 real estate transactions were recorded in the database. The “Your Capital” agency indicates that the proportion of Russians among home buyers in Minsk was 1.5% in 2019, 3% in 2021, and 2% in 2022.

Russian citizens can legally purchase properties in Belarus, based on the law regarding the legal status of foreign citizens. They can acquire apartments, houses, or office spaces through sales contracts, exchanges, or other types of transactions.

According to real estate expert Natalya Litovskaya, Russians are not looking for the cheapest homes, but are mainly interested in apartments in the comfort and premium segment. For this reason, the average price per square meter has increased, as transactions with expensive homes are more frequent.
