The Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, is set to meet on Tuesday in Budapest with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, in a gesture of support for the ultra-nationalist leader just a few days before the Sunday’s parliamentary elections, reports EFE, as relayed by Agerpres.
According to the Index.hu portal, close to the Budapest government, it is expected that the two politicians will appear in front of the press on Tuesday around lunchtime and participate together in the afternoon at a political rally of the governing conservative Fidesz party of Prime Minister Orban.
Confirming last week’s visit of Vance to Hungary from April 7 – 8, the White House indicated that the American Vice President will deliver a speech about the “important alliance between the USA and Hungary”.
Viktor Orban, in power since 2010, is a close ally of the American president Donald Trump, with whom he maintains a tight relationship.
