Russia and Turkey have called for the ceasefire agreed between the United States and Iran to be extended to Lebanon, in the context of tensions generated by the Israeli offensive in this country.

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Minister Sergei Lavrov had a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, emphasizing that Moscow considers the ceasefire agreement to have a regional dimension, applicable to Lebanon as well, reports AFP, quoted by News.ro.

Maria Zaharova, the spokesperson for Russian diplomacy, criticized Israel’s military operations in Lebanon, warning that they risk undermining the ongoing negotiation process.

“It is important that the parties show a conciliatory attitude”

In turn, the Turkish Foreign Minister urged Washington and Tehran to adopt a constructive approach in the scheduled discussions in Islamabad:

“It is important that the parties show a conciliatory, flexible, patient, and constructive attitude in the negotiations that will begin in Pakistan“, declared in a press conference in Ankara, Minister Hakan Fidan.

Turkey also insists that Lebanon be included in the terms regarding the implementation of the armistice, expressing hope that the agreement will be respected on the ground and will contribute to establishing a lasting peace in the region.
