The 1+1 meeting in Tiraspol ended in a scandal between the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri and the alleged Transnistrian foreign minister Vitali Ignatiev. At the beginning of the meeting, the member of the constitutional Government conveyed that the administration in Chisinau is willing to engage in dialogue with Tiraspol.
The Security Zone has distributed a video with the exchanges between Chiveri and Ignatiev. The Deputy Prime Minister asserts that the relations between the authorities on the two banks of the Dniester cannot be diplomatic, because it is not a matter of two separate states.
Vitali Ignatiev threatened that if such statements continue in front of the press, the Transnistrian delegation will leave the meeting, reports realitatea.md. The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration subsequently proposed a joint statement on the resumption of the negotiation process.
There followed remarks regarding the (non)existence of the 5+2 format, and shortly after, the spirits were calmed by the OSCE representatives.
