The Pentagon revealed, on Tuesday, more details about the defense budget, worth 1.5 trillion dollars, requested by President Donald Trump for the fiscal year 2027.
This is, by far, the largest annual increase in defense spending since the period following the Second World War, according to Agerpres, citing Reuters.
The Pentagon has created a category it calls “presidential priorities”. This includes the “Golden Dome” missile defense system, achieving supremacy in the field of drones, Artificial Intelligence and data infrastructure, as well as the defense industrial base.
Last year, Trump requested a national defense budget from Congress worth 892.6 billion dollars.
Subsequently, he requested another 150 billion, which raised the total budget value to over 1 trillion dollars for the first time in American history.
The US military budget provides for the largest naval order since 1962. It will be called the “Golden Fleet”.
For shipbuilding, over 65 billion dollars are allocated for the acquisition of 18 warships and 16 support ships built by General Dynamics and Huntington Ingalls Industries, as part of the “Golden Fleet” initiative.
This is the largest order in the field of shipbuilding since 1962, the involved officials declared.
