The Vice President of the Russian Security Council, Dmitri Medvedev, stated that a nuclear apocalypse is “a real possibility”, and those who do not realize this are “dreamers or fools”, notes The Moscow Times.
“I am often accused of using harsh rhetoric and speaking of a nuclear apocalypse, but, unfortunately, this is a real possibility. Anyone who doesn’t realize this is a dreamer or a fool,” said Medvedev, speaking at a public event with an educational theme.
He insisted that the world must prepare for a scenario of mutual nuclear annihilation.
In the chapter “preparations”, the former Russian president and prime minister pointed out precisely the Russian nuclear triad, formed by ground ballistic capabilities, strategic bombers, and submarines equipped with atomic bombs.
The Vice President of the Security Council admitted that the discussion about who would be the first to use nuclear weapons is pointless.
Medvedev opined that the “knot of contradictions” is currently very tight, including due to the conflict in the Middle East.
