The recent attacks by Russia on Ukrainian cities show that President Vladimir Putin is not preparing for peace, but is trying to force Ukraine to submit. The statement belongs to former American official and defense expert Ian Brzezinski, made for TVP World.
Speaking at the Impact 2026 conference in Poznań, Poland, Brzezinski said that the statement of American President Donald Trump, according to which the war could be nearing its end, showed “a bit of naivety” towards Putin, notes deschide.md.
“Putin doesn’t want peace. He wants Ukraine,” said Brzezinski, quoting one of his colleagues.
Brzezinski believes that NATO and America have an economy and a defense budget much larger than Russia, but they have failed to transform this advantage into decisive support for Kiev. In his opinion, Ukraine has changed the way Europe perceives defense.
