The authorities installed by Moscow in the leadership of occupied Crimea have decided to ban the movement of motorcycles and other similar vehicles during the night, arguing that the noise produced by engines affects the activity of anti-aircraft defense units trying to identify and neutralize drones launched by Ukraine.

The measure, announced on Tuesday by the Moscow-installed leader in the peninsula, Sergei Aksionov, comes into effect starting today and will remain applicable for an indefinite period, writes Moscow Times.

According to the new rules, motorcycles, mopeds, scooters, ATVs, and other similar motorized vehicles will no longer be able to circulate between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00.

The decision comes after an advisor to Aksionov accused motorcyclists of disrupting the activity of mobile anti-aircraft defense groups during air alerts. These units largely rely on identifying the noises produced by drones approaching military targets and strategic infrastructure.

The Russian state press went even further, suggesting that some motorcyclists would intentionally ride during drone attacks, at the request of individuals who communicate through messaging apps and who would offer them modest financial rewards for this activity.

“The main purpose of these measures is to ensure public safety and protect the military, state institutions, and special objectives”, Aksionov conveyed on Telegram.
