In Kiev, 52,500 people, including 4,500 children, slept in the subway on the night from Wednesday to Thursday. Individuals took shelter during the attack launched by Russia.

The Kiev metro administration has reported that this is the largest number of people recently who have simultaneously taken shelter from bombings, reports Meduza. The exact period was not mentioned.

The 46 metro stations operate as shelters and are open for public access during air raids. People are advised to bring blankets, warm clothes, water, medicines, hygiene products, and pet carriers with them, as all stations are open for access.

On the night of July 2, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukraine, including Kiev. The city’s mayor described the offensive as the largest since the beginning of the war. Ukrainian authorities claim that 22 people were killed in the attack on July 2, and dozens of people were injured.
