Ramzan Kadyrov is expected to run for another term as leader of Chechnya. The official complains that he was forced by the “Edinaia Rossiya” party (Eng. trans.: United Russia) to participate in the elections.
The decision to put forward his candidacy for the upcoming elections for the leader of Chechnya was unanimously taken at the meeting of the regional organization of the formation. However, Kadyrov claims that he is not satisfied with the decision, notes Meduza.
“To be honest, I’m not happy to be running. If I were asked, I would choose another candidate, because it’s a huge responsibility and I know how difficult this task is. A lot of work has been put into the republic, and today we have a team. The team is working wonderfully.”
“I am confident that the people will support me. If the people support me, I am ready to serve the people,” said Kadyrov.
Ramzan Kadyrov has been leading Chechnya since 2007. In the latest regional elections, which took place in 2021, he reportedly secured 99.7% of the votes.
