The Kremlin’s spokesperson announced on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, agreed during the weekend conversation to have a new discussion “in the near future,” Reuters reported.
A high-ranking American official stated on Sunday that Trump intends to meet with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski on Wednesday in Ankara, on the sidelines of the NATO Summit, and that a likely subsequent discussion will follow between the leader of the United States and his Russian counterpart.
When asked on Monday by reporters if Trump will call Putin after the meeting with Zelenski, Peskov replied: “Yes, indeed, both President Putin and President Trump have agreed that they will continue contacts in the near future”.
The Kremlin representative mentioned that the US president “has a fairly consistent position” regarding the war in Ukraine.
“You know, President Trump, the President of the USA, has a rather consistent stance, and all these fabrications that he would change his opinions as the wind blows are, of course, untrue,” added Dmitri Peskov.
“He is consistent and confident in the way he understands what is happening, but most importantly, he is open to listening to the information conveyed to him by Putin,” the Russian president’s spokesperson further stated.
