The European Commissioner for Enlargement praised the Republic of Moldova for the progress made in the EU accession process. At the same time, the official pointed out that the administration in Chisinau needs to implement reforms, especially in the field of justice, combating corruption, and economic governance.

“I have noted impressive results in the implementation of the reforms outlined in the Growth Plan. With an achievement level of 93%, the Republic of Moldova is ahead of all other EU candidate countries benefiting from such growth plans. Therefore, I share your opinion that we should ask the Council to open all negotiation clusters as soon as possible.”

At the same time, the Republic of Moldova should accelerate reforms, especially those in the field of justice, the fight against corruption, and economic governance, which are fundamental. This will allow the country to begin closing negotiation chapters,” stated the European Commissioner for Enlargement, as quoted by TV8.

The Republic of Moldova opened its first accession negotiation cluster with the European Union on June 15, 2026, and on July 8, it was invited to negotiate the sixth one, which pertains to the country’s external relations.

On July 8, the European Parliament approved the annual report on the situation of the Republic of Moldova, in the context of the EU accession process. The MEPs called on all EU member states to open, without delay, all negotiation clusters for accession.

The administration in Chisinau welcomed the decision. The interim Prime Minister, Eugeniu Osmochescu, as well as the Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, expressed their gratitude for the vote and for the support given to our country on the path to European integration.
