At a Gazprom gas station in Chelyabinsk, a driver shot another with a gun. The injured man was taken to the hospital, and the police opened a criminal investigation.
The conflict took place in the middle of a queue at a gas station. One of the drivers was urged to join the general queue, after which the situation escalated into an argument and gunfire.
“The man was told to join the general queue to fill his car, but he decided he didn’t want to,” a witness said, writes Dialog.
“What would have happened if everyone had reacted like this? I had children in the car, so where could the bullet have hit? The victim was shot in the stomach and there was a lot of blood.”
For Russia, this is a new alarming phase of the gasoline crisis. Previously, reports had arrived from regions about fights, conflicts in queues, altercations between drivers and attempts to forcibly occupy a spot at the pump. Now, weapons have been used.
Against the backdrop of fuel shortages, queues at gas stations become a source of domestic violence. People spend hours waiting for gasoline, becoming nervous, arguing over parking spaces, and fearing they will run out of fuel for work, travel, and everyday life. When a crisis lasts for weeks on end, such tension quickly turns into aggression.
