Boris Nadejdin, recently placed by Russian authorities on the “foreign agents” list, once again criticized Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, saying that the Russian president’s policy “leads to chaos and possibly, God forbid, to a catastrophe”.

Nadejdin was disqualified from the presidential elections in 2024, but now he is trying to run in the parliamentary elections this fall. Known for his anti-war stances, he accused the authorities of trying to sabotage his campaign, after he was designated a “foreign agent” and interrogated by the police.

On Wednesday, in an interview given to AFP in Dolgoprudny, in the suburbs of Moscow, where he resides, Boris Nadejdin criticized the policy of President Vladimir Putin.

“We must tell people the truth, we must say that the policy with which Putin leads the country is one that leads to chaos and possibly, God forbid, to a catastrophe,” Nadejdin declared, quoted by Agerpres.

On Friday, the liberal politician is due to appear before the court in Dolgoprudny, in a case where he is accused of “displaying extremist symbols”. He risks a maximum of 15 days detention for this administrative offense, but has not ruled out the possibility of more serious criminal proceedings.
