Iran has warned two European countries not to allow the United States to use their military bases to launch potential attacks against it. This is not the first time Tehran authorities have made such statements.

During a telephone conversation between the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Cyprus, Abbas Araghchi mentioned “the need to prevent any hostile forces from using foreign military bases located on Cypriot territory to carry out acts of aggression against Iran”.

The official from Tehran also said that if a state offers its territory for hostile actions, this fact “constitutes participation in an act of aggression”, reports news.ro. In turn, the Cypriot Foreign Minister, Constantinos Kombos, stated that his government has received assurances from the United Kingdom that the British military bases located in Cyprus will not be used against any state, including against Iran.

In a separate conversation with the Bulgarian Foreign Minister, Velislava Petrova-Chamova, Abbas Araghchi asked her to reconsider the decision of the Sofia government to allow American military aircraft to use one of its bases for military operations.

“Iran expects the Bulgarian government to urgently reconsider its decision. Iran will not hesitate to defend its national interests and security against any aggression or hostile actions, and that any party participating, in any way, in acts of aggression against Iran will be held accountable for the consequences”, the official from Tehran conveyed.

Iran has previously accused several Arab states in the Gulf of allowing the United States to launch attacks on Tehran from military bases on their territory.
