One of the largest transport companies in Russia, FESCO, has suspended the acceptance of orders for freight transport through the Black Sea, following the sinking of the container ship “Yanina”.
The company announced that it is considering additional security measures and alternative transportation routes. According to logistics experts, this could lead to new blockages in the ports of the Russian Far East.
The ship “Yanina,” with a capacity of approximately 1,000 containers, sank on the night of August 1st. A few days later, maritime drones attacked the cargo ship “Nadejda,” which was transporting fruits and vegetables from Turkey to Novorossiisk, as well as another commercial ship on the same route.
According to a Russian importer quoted by the source, the route through the port of Novorossiisk has become too risky, and FESCO was one of the main maritime transport operators on this direction.
