The United Kingdom has announced new sanctions targeting Russian ships, banks, and industrial companies. Through this new package of sanctions, the British government aims to stop the flow of money that Putin is using to finance the war in Ukraine.
The authorities in the United Kingdom have added to the sanctions list six Russian banks, six newly acquired oil tankers from Moscow’s shadow fleet, as well as four Russian companies importing tantalum and niobium – rare metals used in weapons on the battlefield, writes Agerpres.
Since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia in 2022, the British government has sanctioned a total of over 3400 individuals, entities, and vessels under the sanctions regime against Moscow.
“We will continue to intensify pressure on Russia until a fair and lasting peace is achieved,” declared the British Foreign Minister, Ed Miliband.
The Russian Embassy in London has not yet commented on the new sanctions package.
