Ukraine is making progress in developing its own ballistic missile defense system, President Volodimir Zelenski stated on Thursday, as his country continues to face daily aerial attacks from Russia, reports Agerpres.
\”I can confirm that our arms manufacturers have already reached the required standards\”, Zelenski posted on Telegram after a meeting with defense and security experts. \”We expect Ukraine to achieve the desired results in the 2026-2027 period\”, he added.
Kiev wants its emerging FREYJA system to be a cost-effective alternative with high performance to the American Patriot system, supplied by the USA and other NATO states to Ukraine, invaded by Russia in 2022.
