Following the fall of the drone at Crocmaz, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova recalled Ambassador Lilian Darii from Moscow for consultations. The diplomacy in Chisinau has classified the incident as a serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
The authority conveyed that the incident endangered the safety of citizens and emphasized that the consequences of the war in Ukraine are felt in the Republic of Moldova and impact the security of the country and the entire region, reports the agency IPN.
President Maia Sandu has condemned the incident. The head of state reiterated that the drone-missile explosion is a direct consequence of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine.
“We strongly condemn the most recent violation of our airspace. A drone-missile exploded near the village of Crocmaz in southern Moldova. This is a direct consequence of Russia’s war and it puts us all in danger. The risk to human life in our region is real and increasing. It must stop,” said the head of state.
A similar message was also conveyed by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, who mentioned that the explosion caused damage over a distance of 800 meters.
