The authorities in Poland will send SMS messages to citizens when the air forces will lift military aircraft off the ground, during Russian attacks against Ukraine. In particular, those who are at the border with Ukraine will be targeted.
The Deputy Minister of Defense, Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, clarified for the press that the measure was taken after a missile fell in Poland, in the month of July, near Lublin. The official stated that as a result of the incident, the local population complained that they were not adequately warned about the danger of falling missiles or drones.
The sirens sounded in Lublin and the surrounding districts, but the locals did not know the nature of the threat, reports Agerpres.
The General Staff of the Polish army has so far used the X platform to announce when NATO fighter jets were lifted from the ground, to monitor the aircraft approaching the country’s airspace. Similarly, news about the entry of missiles into Poland’s airspace was initially transmitted on X.
In the future, such information will be sent to citizens via SMS by the National Security Center of Poland (RCB).
In addition, the Polish Ministry of Defense is currently developing an application for air raid alerts, similar to the system used in Ukraine.
