Allison Guerriero, the security researcher who provided authorities with information about former FBI official Charles McGonigal, was found dead in her residence in Boynton Beach, Florida. The cause of death is not yet known, and authorities are awaiting the coroner’s report.
The woman’s death occurred just a few hours after she posted a series of messages on X criticizing the FBI, politician Jim Jordan, and McGonigal, the FBI agent who, thanks to her, is behind bars. In her posts, Allison Guerriero revisited the case that brought the former federal agent before the court, reports newsweek.
FBI Agent McGonigal was arrested in 2023 and sentenced in two separate cases. In the first, he pleaded guilty to secretly working on behalf of Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska and received a 50-month prison sentence. In the second, he admitted to hiding from the FBI the fact that he had received 225,000 dollars from a person with ties to the Albanian government. For this case, he was sentenced in 2024 to an additional 28 months, the sentences to be served consecutively.
Before his conviction, Charles McGonigal had held one of the most sensitive positions in the FBI. As the special agent in charge of the Counterintelligence Division in New York, he had overseen investigations into external threats to American national security, including investigations into Russian oligarchs.
