Tamara Eidelman has cancelled her event in Chisinau. The history teacher from Russia, now residing in Portugal, wrote a blog post in which she explains what she meant in her video-lecture about the Republic of Moldova.
Eidelman continues to insist that linguists do not have a single view on whether the Romanian language and the alleged Moldovan are identical, writes realitatea.md. Also, according to her, there is no certainty about the role and involvement of Russia in the Nistru war.
“Let’s be honest: whose agent was Igor Smirnov, the leader of the unrecognized republic? What was the role of the Russian leadership? Under whose orders did the former 14th Soviet Army act and under whose orders did its officers sell weapons – we don’t know exactly. We don’t have (yet) clear evidence. Historians will clarify all those events for a long time. Serious accusations require serious evidence. But some of the criticism I received about what I say about Transnistria simply outraged me,” Eidelman states.
Recently, in a video published on her YouTube channel, Tamara Eidelman attempted to explain the difference between the Romanian language and the so-called “Moldovan”, following the annexation of the current territory of Moldova to the Russian Empire in 1812 and the return of Bessarabia to Romania in 1918. She also made statements about “Romanization”, as well as controversial claims about the war on the Dniester, in 1992.
