The President of the United States, Donald Trump, asked the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, on Sunday, to stop the attacks on diesel production in Russia, stating that they cause a “shortage”. The unexpected attack from Trump, after he seemed amiable towards Ukraine for a longer period, comes after a telephone conversation of the American president with Vladimir Putin.
“Mr. Zelenski must do one thing. He must stop destroying the diesel production in Russia,” Trump told reporters during the Irish Open tour, held at his club in Doonbeg, after being asked by a reporter if he had discussed anything with the Ukrainian president following the conversation with Putin.
“They should attack other targets, but not diesel, because it causes a diesel shortage.”
Cascade attacks in Russia and Ukraine
Several civilians were killed and injured overnight, as Russia and Ukraine continued to attack each other with waves of drones.
Two people were killed in Tatarstan, according to local authorities, while Ukrainian authorities reported Russian drone attacks on the Black Sea port of Odessa and a fire near a border crossing point with Poland.
