Trilateral negotiations on resolving the conflict in Ukraine could be resumed in October, said the Kremlin spokesman on Sunday, quoted by Russian news agencies and AFP.
“We do not exclude such a possibility (…). That is, we cannot rule out October,” Dmitri Peskov told Russian journalists.
Separately, also on Sunday, Vladimir Putin’s main foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, told the press that so far there is no “agreed package” on which negotiations can be based.
“Currently, there is the idea that an agreement must be reached on the territorial issue. But there are also many other issues,” he added.
The diplomatic efforts, with the mediation of the United States, intended to put an end to Russia’s large-scale offensive in Ukraine, were interrupted by the outbreak of the war in the Middle East in February.
These were resumed with the past weekend’s visits of President Donald Trump’s envoys, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, to Moscow and then — for the first time — to Kiev.
Asked about this visit, Kushner stated on Friday, during a video conference at the “Yalta European Strategy” forum in Kiev, that he hopes “to be able to announce in a few weeks what the next steps will be.”
