The Ukrainian security services claim to have arrested in Kiev a Ukrainian woman suspected of preparing the assassination of a Kremlin opponent serving in the Ukrainian army. The suspect was apprehended while conducting reconnaissance near her target’s workplace, reports Le Parisien.
The Ukrainian secret services (SBU) have arrested an agent of the Russian secret services (FSB) who was preparing to assassinate a Russian opponent siding with Ukraine since 2022, announced the SBU on social networks.
The person in question, whose name has not been made public, currently leads a Ukrainian organization and works as a kick-boxing coach in Kiev, according to United 24. According to Ukrainian authorities, Moscow was trying to eliminate this Russian opponent who had gone to fight for Ukraine as early as 2022.
Agents of the Ukrainian counterintelligence service detained the suspect just before she was about to act, while she was conducting reconnaissance to choose her shooting position near the sports hall where her target works. During the search carried out in her hotel room, investigators claim that they confiscated the weapon, ammunition, and a phone that contained conversations with her Russian contact.
