The operation dubbed “Vivaldi” was kept secret outside Kiev for months, and the commander of the 3rd Army Corps stated that there will be more news to follow, describing the latest update as “the third season” of a four-part series.
Ukraine has captured 250 Russian soldiers in a daring counterattack, during which it used the so-called “zombie machines” on the front line for the first time, announced the leaders from Kiev.
Brigadier General Andrii Bilețki, commander of the 3rd Army Corps, stated that his troops have reclaimed over 50 square kilometers of territory north of the city of Lîman, as part of Operation Vivaldi.
“The enemy was misled and missed the real strike,” said Bilețki, quoted by Ukrainska Pravda, noting that his troops had performed a diversionary maneuver towards a village before launching the attack on the town of Nove, another small settlement whose capture ensured a bridgehead for a subsequent advance.
Zombie-cars
The 3rd Army Corps has transformed the armored vehicles from the Soviet era into unmanned “zombie-machines”, using them to blow up Russia’s most heavily fortified positions, said the general.
Bilețki stated that entire units of Russian soldiers have surrendered as Ukrainian troops advanced, including drone pilots, artillerymen, and officers.
Vehicles have long been turned into improvised explosive devices, but new technologies allow for the removal of the driver from the equation.
