The Bucharest Court of Appeal has overturned the decision of the first instance and ruled that the former presidential candidate be preventively arrested for 30 days. Likewise, businessman Ionel Rusen, his alleged accomplice in the case where DIICOT accuses him of fraud. Călin Georgescu, who was under judicial control, has already been taken into custody.

The first two judges who reviewed the DIICOT prosecutors’ request initially reached diametrically opposed decisions: one issued a preventive arrest decision, while the other wanted investigation in a state of freedom, according to Digi24 sources.
The former presidential candidate is accused of having deceived another businessman out of the sum of 1.1 million euros.
