American President Donald Trump announced, in a post on Truth Social, that an “energy armistice” has been established between Russia and Ukraine, agreed upon by both belligerents.
The leader from Kiev saying that he is awaiting details on this matter from the American side. Also, Zelenski specified that he addressed the issue in discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
“Ukraine supports the ceasefire and it is important for Russia to support it as well. We are waiting for details from the American side. On our part, Ukraine always fully supports steps towards de-escalation, protecting lives, and making the necessary decisions to end the war and ensure lasting peace“, is stated in a message posted on social networks.
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has stated that he supports an energy armistice in the war in Ukraine, but accuses Russia of not intending to respect such an armistice.
“France wholeheartedly supports the call for a true energy armistice, to which Ukraine is willing. At this stage, Russia continues to refuse by intensifying strikes on Ukrainian infrastructures in the last hours. France will continue to stand with Ukraine and President Zelenski,” wrote Emmanuel Macron, in a post on X.
“An energy armistice in the war between Russia and Ukraine has come into immediate effect. Both parties have agreed. Do not violate it,” Trump wrote in his brief post, without giving details about what this armistice entails.
