The legendary grandmaster of chess has launched a new attack against Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, in the context of geopolitical tensions generated by the war in Ukraine. The former world champion harshly criticized the way the President of the United States is managing the conflict and argued, in a series of messages posted on Twitter, that peace negotiations and energy agreements might hide financial interests.
“It’s all crap! It has always been about money, not about peace. Everything was a mess. Everything. Diesel, energy agreements, peace negotiations, everything that exists between Trump & Co. and Putin’s mafia is a farce,” Kasparov wrote.
The former grand master criticized the foreign policy of the White House leader as well.
“The United States does not need anything from Russia, it never has. The national interests of the US lie in defending their democratic allies in a war triggered by Russia, which destabilizes the global security and economic systems led by the US, from which they benefit more than anyone else. But Trump is not concerned with the interests of the United States,” Kasparov conveyed.
“Surrendering to Russia does not end the war”
Kasparov also warned about the consequences that concessions made to the Kremlin could have in an attempt to end the conflict in Ukraine.
“It has been proven time and again that surrendering to Russia does not end the war, but only shows weakness and encourages new acts of terror and assassinations,” Kasparov concluded.
