The NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, met on Thursday with the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, and the Bulgarian Prime Minister, Rumen Radev. The trilateral meeting discussed security in the Black Sea area.
The dialogue takes place following the increasingly frequent attacks on maritime commercial transport, according to the Secretary General of the Alliance, reports Agerpres.
“A good discussion with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, and the President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, about security in the Black Sea and the most recent attacks on maritime commercial transport. NATO has strengthened its position along the eastern flank, including by increasing drone countermeasures capabilities. NATO will continue to work closely with our Allies in the Black Sea region, adjusting our deterrence and defense posture as necessary”, Rutte conveyed.
After the discussion with Rumen Radev and Nicușor Dan, the NATO chief also met with Vladimir Zelenski. The dialogue with the Ukrainian president focused on the energy armistice and he was assured that NATO will continue to support Kiev.
