The President of the United States, Donald Trump, discussed with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during their visit at the White House about the importance of defense spending. The Republican stated that he is not “satisfied” with Zelenski but does not “blame” him, as reported by BBC News.

Meloni was asked about defense spending and about Trump’s previous comments, which suggested that he held Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski responsible for the outbreak of the Russo-Ukrainian War. She confirmed that they did discuss this topic.

“I am not satisfied with him. I do not blame him, but what I am saying is that I would not say he has done the best job,” Trump said, adding that the war would not have started if he were president in 2022.

Trump says he “agrees” with European peace missions in Ukraine.

When asked if Italy should join a European peace mission in Ukraine, Trump responded, “Peace missions are always okay with me.” He emphasized that Italy will need to make this decision.

President Trump held a press conference with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the White House. When asked how much time Vladimir Putin has to respond to a ceasefire proposal before facing additional tariffs or sanctions, Trump said “very soon”.

“We will have news from them this week, very soon in fact. But we want the war to stop. We want the death and the crimes to stop,” replied the Republican.
