Russian oil company Lukoil is facing a large-scale cyber attack that started on Wednesday, March 26. For over 24 hours, the entire system of the company has been paralyzed in Russia.

Practically, Lukoil employees have not had access to their work computers, which displayed a strange message, similar to a malfunction caused by a cyber attack, according to MSN.

In order to prevent data leaks, all employees were instructed not to log into their professional accounts using their usernames and passwords.

Following a similar attack in 2024, it took approximately three days for the computer system to be restored.

Lukoil is one of the largest oil companies in Russia, ranking second in the country after Rosneft in terms of oil production. It is a privately owned company, controlled by oligarchs Vagit Alekperov, former Deputy Minister of Oil during the Soviet Union, and Leonid Fedun.
