US President Donald Trump said he would like to know what Ukraine intends to do with the American Tomahawk missiles before agreeing to supply them, as he does not want to escalate Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked the United States to sell Tomahawk missiles to European countries that would be willing to then send them to Ukraine. Tomahawk missiles have a range of 2,500 km, which would put Moscow within the striking range of the Ukrainian arsenal, if Kyiv were to receive these weapons.
Asked on Monday by journalists at the White House if he had made a decision on supplying the missiles, Trump did not rule out this option and said he had “kind of made a decision”.
“I think I want to find out what they plan to do with them. I would ask a few questions. I don’t want to escalate that war,” the Washington leader stated.
