Disturbing images, seemingly ripped from an apocalyptic movie, captured a convoy of Russian soldiers advancing through thick fog, in destroyed vehicles, without doors or windows. The clip, published by Kyiv Post, shows soldiers clinging to rusty cars and motorcycles, moving along a road littered with debris. On the side, a crashed drone — a sign of the battle that took place there.
In a few seconds, the column disappears into the fog, leaving behind the image of a shattered army, but pushed forward by the order of battle.
Advance towards Kupiansk
The images appeared as Moscow’s forces announced new gains near the Ukrainian city of Kupiansk, in the Harkiv region. Russian troops claim to have occupied several railway stations and an oil depot in the east of the city.
A commander using the call sign Hunter stated that units from the 1486 Mechanized Regiment have penetrated deep into the urban area and have taken control of the railway lines up to the Kupiansk-Vuzlovi station, located approximately six kilometers south of the center. The fighting continues, he says, around the Kupiansk-Sortuvalni station.
Moscow is applying a double encirclement movement — around the cities of Pokrovsk (Donetsk region) and Kupiansk (Kharkiv region). However, Kiev claims to have managed to supply the troops from Mirnograd, located east of Pokrovsk.
