The former mayor of Vladivostok, Oleg Gumeniuk, convicted of corruption, has been fully released from serving his sentence and had his confiscated property returned, after being decorated by the Russian state for his participation in the war against Ukraine. The information was published by VL.ru, which cites official court documents.

According to the Lenin court in Vladivostok, on July 29, 2025, Gumeniuk was awarded the St. George Cross 4th class, and this distinction automatically led, according to article 80.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, to his complete release from criminal punishment. On November 24, the court lifted the seizure on eight of the former mayor’s properties and means of transportation, including residential and commercial buildings, a car, a motorcycle, and a semi-trailer.

Gumeniuk had been sentenced in January 2023 to 16.5 years in a maximum security prison for accepting bribes totaling 38 million rubles (equivalent to approximately 370,000 euros). Subsequently, the sentence was reduced to 12 years. In the latter part of 2023, the former mayor signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense to participate in military operations. According to sources cited by VL.ru, the contract is still valid, and he is currently hospitalized in a military hospital, being treated for minor injuries.
