The proposed EU loan for reconstruction in Ukraine as a result of the war waged by Russia is “the worst of all options”“ and Belgium’s fears in relation to this subject are not taken into account, accused on Wednesday Belgian Foreign Minister, Maxime Prévot, quoted by The Guardian.
He came to the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, in the context where, on the same day, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, presents the loan plan for Kiev based on frozen Russian assets and held in Belgium by Euroclear.
“It is the worst of all options, because of the risks and because there is no precedent in this regard”, argued Prévot.

“The loan scheme for repairs involves consecutive economic, financial and legal risks”, he insisted, expressing his frustration that his country “was not heard”, and Belgian concerns were “minimized”.
