A deputy from the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, has called for a “total war” against Ukraine and the intensification of efforts to subjugate the country, in response to Ukrainian drone attacks deep within the territory of the aggressor state. Russia must go on a war footing and intensify attacks on Ukraine, declared Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the defense committee of the State Duma, reported The Moscow Times.
According to this, the measure is necessary to “minimize” the risk of drone attacks on Russian territory, which have intensified in the context of the 40-day operation carried out by Ukraine to force Russia to accept peace.
“They have decided to extend the operation until the New Year. At this moment, we must already switch to a war footing, launch stronger attacks and intensify massive bombings on enemy territory, so that they understand that such actions do not go unpunished. Also, we need to identify where the drones that reach our territory are launched from,” the official declared to the Russian press.
On Tuesday morning, five people were killed and another ten were injured in a drone attack by the Ukrainian army on the Moscow region, during which a Wildberries warehouse in Chekhov was hit, said Governor Andrei Vorobiov. Kolesnik stated that, in the context of such attacks, the number of people involved in their prevention needs to be increased. Otherwise, “we will not be able to cope with them and we will continue to be hit,” he added.
“It is clear that the counterstrike is inevitable, but we must understand that we are facing a serious threat. We need to treat the situation seriously and not just prepare responses, but real military operations. Only in this way can we prevent these attacks. We can no longer limit ourselves to simple reactions“, declared the parliamentarian.
