A protocol has been drawn up in the name of the former popular governor of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” and one of its founders, Pavel Gubarev, for “discrediting the Russian army”.
The administrative case, based on article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, was registered at the Taganski District Court in Moscow on February 18, according to the capital’s court register. The article provides for a fine of up to 50,000 rubles (approximately 550 euros).
In a statement to RBC, Gubarev said he does not know the reasons why the protocol was drawn up. “I don’t know if it’s about someone’s intention. I can only assume that some people were not satisfied with my texts. I consider this fact an utter nonsense”, he said, adding that he does not expect “any kind of consequences” for himself.
On his Telegram channel, Gubarev suggested that the complaint against him might have been filed by the deputy head of the Main Political-Military Directorate of the Armed Forces of Russia and the commander of the special unit “Ahmat”, Apti Alaudinov. He accused him of having reacted negatively to his posts, without presenting evidence to support his claims.
