According to Russian Telegram channels Mash and Shot, Galina S. was manipulated by “Ukrainian scammers” who also convinced her to borrow money.
Russian authorities have accused her of posting a video on Sunday in which she expressed support for the Ukrainian army, after which she “set fire to a school” in Cheboksary, central Russia.
“The fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured,” the Investigative Committee stated in a press release.
An investigation into a “terrorist act” has been launched and the teacher has been placed in pre-trial detention for two months, the source said.
Since the beginning of Russia’s offensive in Ukraine in February 2022, numerous individuals have been arrested on charges of preparing sabotage acts or opposing Moscow’s military operation against Kiev.
According to Telegram channel Shot, the teacher was contacted by individuals presenting themselves as agents of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). Under their orders, she borrowed money from her relatives, who had become concerned about “her strange behavior” as early as last summer, added the source.
